Dr. Drakas has over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology fields. Prior to joining ShangPharma Innovation, he was executive director of business development for the global contract research organization ChemPartner. Earlier in his career, he assumed increasing levels of responsibility at Merck as part of the cancer research department and then the external basic research department.
Dr. Drakas is a board member of ShangPharma, Blue Oak Therapeutics, Azkarra Therapeutics and Rila Therapeutics, and a board observer for Evrys Bio. He earned a BS in biology from the University of Scranton, an MS in biochemistry from Drexel University and a PhD in molecular pharmacology from Thomas Jefferson University.
